Greetings fellow parents/guardians,

Thank you for sending your children to our Chinese School. Our Chinese School is at its tenth anniversary.  Through the diligent support of parents and guardians, the school has grown strong continuously, and is now Charlotte’s leading school for simplified Chinese, with more than 170 students.

The issue at hand concerns classroom management and the continued access to our rented venue. Very few people are familiar with our school’s early struggle to find a venue. When the school was first founded, we rented CPCC classrooms. However, due to management negligence, CPCC no longer continued our contract. The school commission members then used an entire summer's time to look for another venue. They visited schools, churches, and even libraries with the sole objective to provide a fine learning environment for our children. In the end, a South Korean church let us temporarily use their location. There were problems with this venue, however. It did not resemble typical classrooms, for there were only big, round tables, which produced a cafeteria-like feeling. Only in 2004, did we finally rent our present school building through help of a friend and various consultations.

This site, with its wonderful environment, is, without doubt, the most ideal place to study Chinese.  Today, we want everybody to have a better understanding of our school. Chinese School is like a family. Each Sunday morning, when we arrive at this excellent campus, and enter those bright classrooms, we know that a child can study here without worries. At recess when we see them run cheerfully and find their good friends, there is the same happiness in every guardian’s heart.

The school commission sincerely hopes that everybody treasures this good learning environment. Therefore, we ask our fellow parents and guardians to cooperate with us and supervise your children.  Like American schools, our Chinese school earnestly observes rules and regulations. As in regular schools, our school commission will also establish rewards and punishments.

This semester, the Providence Day School authorities are aware that on several occasions, our students have vandalized their classrooms. Our students have moved things which should not have been moved. Pieces of furniture were not restored to their original positions.  On one occasion, a PDS individual was injured because a misplaced object had fallen upon him. We know that the children are not acting intentionally, but their actions affect Chinese School. Most seriously, their actions endanger our continued access to this campus.

Chinese school is everybody's school; therefore, we respectfully ask all teachers, schoolmates, parents, and guardians to deal with the present issue together and guarantee our continued access to this learning environment. Below are our school rules.  We ask our fellow parents/guardians to assist in enforcement by discussing rules and regulations with your child. Again, thank you for your cooperation!
